Woombye Cheese was founded in 2013 by Graeme and Karen Paynter in the Sunshine Coast hinterland on Kabi Kabi Country. Today, it is under the stweardship of Beth O’Leary and her family, who have brought with them a fresh energy and vision. Beth’s background in hospitality and food has given her a deep appreciation for both the makers and the moments shared around good cheese.
Woombye has earned national recognition — collecting champion titles and gold medals at the Australian Grand Dairy Awards, Royal Queensland Awards, and Sydney Royal Cheese & Dairy Show. Their washed rinds and triple creams have become benchmarks in Australian cheesemaking, celebrated by judges and loved by customers across the country.
At its heart, Woombye is about connection: between makers and land, between tradition and innovation, and between the people who gather around a cheeseboard to share it. It’s this sense of community, craft, and connection — paired with a cabinet full of awards — that makes Woombye one of Australia’s most celebrated cheesemakers.
